WENDY HIGGINS

Wendy Higgins was born in 1956 and grew up in the Washington, DC area. She began drawing in grade school and took her first oil painting class in high school. Wendy went on to study art, focusing on art history and figure drawing in college, obtaining a BA degree in art from Guilford College, Greensboro, NC in 1977.

For nearly 20 years art was set aside and Wendy worked in the field of gardening and agriculture , culturing a love for the beauty of the natural world. Meeting the still life painter, Cary Ennis in 1998 reawakened a passion for expressing that natural beauty and inspired Wendy’s current career as a painter of light. She went on to study with Cary Ennis, David Leffel, and William Scott Jennings and has been successfully painting full time with annual solo shows since 2001.

Wendy is a signature member of Oil Painters of America, has been featured in numerous artist magazines, and has her work in collections across the US. Sage Creek Gallery on Canyon Road in Santa Fe now represents Wendy’s work in New Mexico. She currently lives and paints in Oregon.
