MARILYN YATES
Marilyn has been a professional artist for over 40 years. Marilyn Yates maintains a home and studio in Santa Fe among the pinons and chamisas of New Mexico. The views of three mountain ranges and colorful sunsets provide endless inspiration for her landscapes. Her garden is filled with roses, lilacs and peonies which produce abundant material for her still-life work.
Marilyn began painting at the age of 5 in her native Chicago. After a move to California she received her BFA degree from California State University at Los Angeles. A brief career as an educator in the California public schools system followed before she decided to pursue her passion for painting.
Marilyn’s award winning works have been included in exhibitions nationwide and are a part of many corporate collections including Atlantic Richfield Corporation, Federal Reserve Bank, Dallas Federal Reserve Bank, Dallas Federal Savings, Lone Star Gas and Pan America Bank. Her art can also be seen in the art collection of the University of New Mexico. The recipient of numerous awards for her work in watercolor and acrylics, Marilyn was recently honored for her still-life work by International Artist Magazine and her landscapes were awarded special recognition by the respected American Women Artists. She is a signature member of the National Acrylic Painter’s Association. Her work has been described as being poetic, lyrical and sensitive with a careful eye for color harmony and design.
