DANE CHINNOCK
DANE CHINNOCK
The sprawling deserts, dense forests, snow-capped peaks, secluded canyons, and hidden creeks and streams in riparian areas of the southwest, as well as old historic city streets and architecture have captivated Dane Chinnock ever since he was a child. Dane grew up in Tucson, and in Prescott, where he lives and works today. He still enjoys exploring the cities and wilderness of his home state and the entire southwest in every season, just as he did as a child.
With oil paints and only a palette knife he hopes to communicate its wide-ranging beauty en plein air paintings and in his studio works. In the last decade Dane has studied under renowned southwest artist Robert Knudson and British portrait artist Paul Abbott and has been pursuing art as his professional and passionate career. In 2016 Dane was awarded Southwest Art Magazines 'award of excellence' for his painting "Catching Colors" in the 42nd annual juried Phippen Show in downtown Prescott. He was featured as an editor’s choice 'artist's to watch' in the same publication.
